John Taber, from Massachusetts, played two games for the 1890 Boston Beaneaters.
"John Taber, the Boston League team's experimental pitcher is a jolly fellow, and has become very popular with his teammates." - Sporting Life, April 12, 1890
"Taber, the young Boston pitcher, pitched well, but was evidently rattled by the coaching of (his teammates) Tucker and Long." - Sporting Life, May 3, 1890, discussing the game of April 30 between Boston and Brooklyn
