Biographical Information

John Simmons was drafted in the first round of the 1969 amateur draft by the Kansas City Royals . Simmons was the first Royals 1st round pick ever (they had drafted 50 players in 1968, the highest being the 4th round). The 23rd overall selection, he was the 4th shortstop taken, after Alan Bannister, Roger Metzger and Gorman Thomas. He never signed and did not play professionally.
