Biographical Information[edit]

John Rabb played five seasons in the majors, getting most of his at-bats with the San Francisco Giants from 1982 to 1984, on a team managed primarily by Frank Robinson.

Rabb was in the minors for 11 seasons, hitting 173 home runs.

In the majors he appeared in 37 games at catcher, 14 at first base and 14 in the outfield. He also did a lot of pinch-hitting. In the minors, in addition to playing catcher, first base and outfield, he also appeared 24 times at third base.

When he came up at age 22 with the 1982 Giants, he was 15 years younger than first baseman Reggie Smith, 16 years younger than second baseman Joe Morgan, 4 years younger than outfielder Jack Clark and 13 years younger than third baseman Darrell Evans.
