Biographical Information[edit]

John Otness signed with the Boston Red Sox in 2004 and made his pro debut that summer with the GCL Red Sox, appearing in just 3 games there before being promoted to the Lowell Spinners, for whom he hit .276 in 63 games. With the Greenville Bombers the next season, he hit .331 with 12 home runs and 67 RBIs in 117 games and was named a South Atlantic League All-Star. He spent 2006 with the Wilmington Blue Rocks, hitting .281 and striking out just 40 times in 105 games. He was with the AA Portland Sea Dogs in 2007 and hit .227 in 71 games for the club.
