Biographical Information

John Lang pitched for five years in the minors. He began his career with the 1952 Daytona Beach Islanders and went 12-11 with a 4.04 ERA. He walked 170 in 193 innings, leading the Florida State League in free passes issued. He went 11-9 with a 3.81 ERA for the 1953 Green Bay Bluejays and walked 169 in 158 innings, leading the Wisconsin State League in walks. He missed the '54 season and never again won as many.

In 1955, John was 3-3 with a 3.00 ERA for the Sherbrooke Indiens, had no decisions for the Fargo-Moorhead Twins and no decisions for the Spartanburg Peaches. The '56 season led to a 1-3, 5.07 year for Fargo-Moorhead. He concluded his career with the 1957 San Antonio Missions and Knoxville Smokies, going 1-0 for Knoxville. His career record was 28-26.

Personal Recollection

John Lang was another good fastball pitcher for the Green Bay Blue Jays in 1953. He was a tall husky right-hander who threw very hard. I remember that he may have had control problems. But he also had many strikeouts. Since Green Bay was in the Cleveland farm system, he most likely continued his career with higher classifications in the system. ---- User:Pitcher53
