Biographical Information[edit]
John Labetich was a third baseman in the minor leagues from 1929 to 1932. In that last season, he played 4 games in the Pacific Coast League with the Oakland Oaks, going 0 for 8, but tore up the Arizona-Texas League, where he hit .340 and slugged .542 in 99 games with the Bisbee Bees. Unfortunately, his name was listed incorrectly as "Babetish" (no first name) in some data bases, making a lot harder to attribute these statistics to the right player. It seems that this was his last season as a professional, but he did play some semi-pro ball around Oakland, CA after that.
He then settled in Biloxi, MS, but moved back to Oakland after his brother died there in 1943, and he passed away himself a few months later, early in 1944, without having returned to Biloxi.
