Biographical Information[edit]
John Kenney had played with the Unions of Morrisania in 1870. In the National Association, he played for the 1872 Brooklyn Atlantics, going 0 for 19. He also was an umpire, working one National Association game in 1872 and a handful of games in the National League in 1876 and 1877.
His name was also spelled Kenny, and he later became a hydrant inspector with the Brooklyn, NY Department of Public Works. SABR was able to trace additional details about him when his will was put on-line by a genealogy website, enabling researchers to locate his obituary.
