Biographical Information[edit]
John Godar played five games in the majors. While in the minors, he was touted as:
" 'The Jere Denny of the Pacific', as John Godar has been titled by enthusiastic admirers of the coast . . . he says the Californians rated him too high when they called him 'Denny the Second'." - Sporting Life, December 13, 1890
In 1897 he stated he had retired from baseball to go into the poultry business.
The press sometimes referred to him as "Jack" or "Johnny".
