Biographical Information

John Dettmer had sterling seasons in his first three years in the minors. In 1992 he went 10-1, in 1993 he went 16-3, and in 1994 he went 9-3 while also pitching in the majors. He had played for the US when they won Bronze in the 1991 Pan American Games; his 10 strikeouts in a game were a US Pan American Games record that would not be matched until Jake Thompson in 2015.
