Biographical Information[edit]
In 1951, manager John Davenport was transfered by the parent Philadelphia Phillies from the Elizabethton Phils to the Bradford Phillies. At the time, Davenport was leading the Appalachian League with a .382 average while playing first base.
Davenport's playing career began in 1942 and ended in 1955. He hit .300 or better in six seasons and once topped 100 RBI. He never played above A ball.
