The father of big league infielder Craig Counsell, outfielder John Counsell played in the Minnesota Twins organization from 1964 to 1967, mostly with the Wisconsin Rapids Twins, but never reached the majors. He hit .241 with 4 HR and 31 RBI for Wisconsin Rapids in 1964 and .219 with one home run and 21 RBI the next year. In 1966, he batted .254/~.337/.337. His 16 outfield assists ranked second in the Midwest League. His only season outside of Wisconsin Rapids came for the 1967 Orlando Twins, hitting .227/~.327/.293 and had 12 assists, tying for second among Florida State League flyhawks. He later worked in the Milwaukee Brewers front office.
