John M. Connell
(Red)
also known as Red Connolly
- Born June 30, 1860 in New York, NY USA
- Died March 1, 1896 in New York, NY USA
Biographical Information[edit]
John Connell was an umpire in the American Association and National League from 1884 to 1893, working 179 games overall, 103 of them in the A.A. in 1885. He has often been confused with Red Connolly (or Connally) a short-term player for the St. Louis Maroons in 1886, with whom he shares a similarity in names. Little is known about the ballplayer, but it is almost certain the two are different persons.
