Biographical Information[edit]
Two-way player John Burke played two games in the outfield and two appearances on the bump with the New York Giants of 1902. He did not light the world on fire in either role, batting .154 (2-for-13) with an 0-1, 5.79 record. After baseball, he became a Roman Catholic priest and served as pastor of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic church (in Keyport Monmouth County, New Jersey) from 1929 until his death in 1950, having been raised to the title of Monsignor. He was a large man and had snow white hair.
