Biographical Information[edit]
John Foster was a baseball writer for over 50 years, first in Cleveland, OH in 1888. He moved to the New York Evening Telegram from 1896-1912, then worked for the New York Giants as secretary. He also worked for the New York Herald and New York Sun. He was the editor of the Spalding Guide for a period as well and was the first chair of New York's BBWAA chapter.
