Biographical Information[edit]

Joey Nation pitched two games for the Chicago Cubs in 2000. Although a pitcher, he got two hits in four tries while batting.

Joey was born in Oklahoma City, OK and attended high school there. A second-round draft pick by the Atlanta Braves in the 1997 amateur draft, he was in their minor league organization from 1997 through most of 1999. Throughout his minor league career, he was always primarily a starter.

In late August 1999, he was sent to the Cubs as the player to be named later from an earlier trade. He spent the rest of his minor league career in the Cubs organization.

Joey was still 21 when he came up to the Cubs in 2000 - he would turn 22 on the day of his second and final major league appearance. The Cubs that year were an old team with an average age of 31.

An interview in 2010 with Joey about his career appears here.
