Biographical Information

Joel Suárez has pitched for Matanzas in the Cuban Serie Nacional. He allowed 3 runs in 7 2/3 IP in 2007-2008 and four runs in one inning in 2008-2009. In 2009-2010, he was 4-2 with two saves and a 4.28 ERA in 26 games. He had a 3-2, 4.69 record as a swingman in 2010-2011. He continued to progress at 7-3, 3.03 with a save, .201 opponent average and 22 walks in 89 innings in 2011-2012. In 2012-2013, he was 6-1 with a 2.26 ERA and .217 opponent average in the classification stage. He tied for 6th in wins. He was even better (8-0, 1.22). He was named the league's All-Star right-handed pitcher.
