Biographical Information[edit]

Joe Walsh is the earliest of three players by that name to play in the major leagues. Joe was in the minors and independent ball for a decade and came to the American Association in its last year as a major league in 1891. Joe got into 26 games with the Baltimore Orioles, playing both second base and shortstop. He was one year younger than teammate Wilbert Robinson.

The minor league database is very incomplete for him, but it does show that Joe led the 1887 Omaha Omahogs in doubles, triples, home runs and runs scored. Joe played at least four seasons in Omaha, and years later died there.
