Biographical Information[edit]
Joe Sparma died of heart disease and complications from triple by-pass surgery at the young age of 44. He threw one-third of an inning in relief of Denny McLain in Game 4 of the 1968 World Series for the Detroit Tigers against the St. Louis Cardinals.
