Biographical Information[edit]

Joe Paterson was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 10th round of the 2007 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Matt Woodward and made his pro debut that summer. He was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2010 Rule V Draft and made his major league debut with the D-Backs in 2011.

He came to the major leagues as a LOOGY and performed well his inaugural season, posting a 2.91 ERA in 62 appearances (34 innings). He pitched just 11 games over the next three seasons, however, posting a 24.16 ERA; in 6 1/3 innings, he allowed 21 hits, 4 walks and 17 runs, while hitting 4 batters.
