Biographical Information[edit]
Joe Murphy became the sports editor for the St.Louis Globe-Democrat and the Chicago Tribune and a well-known horse race track official. He retired to Florida about 1936.
In addition to his playing career, he worked four games as an umpire in the American Association in 1887.
