Biographical Information[edit]
Joe Klinger was in seven games in the majors in 1927 with the New York Giants and in 1930 for the Chicago White Sox. He appeared in five games in the field, at three positions: catcher, first base and left field. As a hitter he was 5-for-13, for a batting average of .385. His shot with the White Sox came purely by chance. He was with the Little Rock Travelers for two exhibition games against the Sox; his total for both games was 4 for 4 with two inside-the-park home runs. This impressed the Sox so much that they practically signed him on the spot.
Klinger managed the Tigers' Charleroi Tigers farm team in the Pennsylvania State Association during the first part of the 1936 season.
