Biographical Information

Joe Justice was a long-time coach.

Justice was the second baseman for Team USA in the 1939 Amateur World Series, when they finished third. He played football and baseball in college then taught for a year at Winter Haven High School. He played in the minors in 1940-1941. He hit .258 and slugged .320 for the '40 Sanford Seminoles, fielding .934 at 2B. The next year, he batted .269/?/.334 and fielded .925 at second base between Sanford and the Ocala Yearlings. He served in the US Navy in World War II in the South Pacific. He returned for two more seasons, hitting .284/.389/.373 for Sanford in 1946 and .251/?/.326 for the 1947 Orlando Senators.

Justice coached baseball at Rollins College from 1947-1971. He also coached football and taught physical education there, as well as serving as dean of men and athletic director at times. He guided Rollins to the 1954 College World Series, finishing second to the much larger University of Missouri. He guided Rollins to second place in the 1957 NAIA College World Series and 4th place in the 1959 NAIA College World Series. In 1967, he was named Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
