Biographical Information[edit]
Joe Graves came to the big leagues for two games, both on September 26, 1926, at age 20. He played for the Chicago Cubs against the Brooklyn Robins, getting one plate appearance in the first game and four in the second game of a doubleheader. He faced pitcher Dazzy Vance in game one and Jesse Petty in game two. Petty was the Robins' top pitcher that year.
Joe is one of only three major leaguers through 2023 who was given the name Ebenezer, and of the three is the only one who had it as a middle name. His brother Sid Graves played in the National League in 1927.
