Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Joe Fishinghawk spent a year (1952) in the minor leagues, going 0-4 with an 8.44 ERA in 17 games for the Class-D Bartlesville/Pittsburg Pirates of the Kansas-Oklahoma-Missouri League, in the Pittsburgh Pirates system. He had the highest ERA of any league pitcher with 45+ IP. At the plate, he was better (7 for 26, 2 2B, 3 BB, 4 R, 4 RBI).

He later became a decorated military veteran, first serving in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1957 and remained there for 27 years, serving four tours of duty in Vietnam. He earned multiple medals and honors, including the Air Force Commendation Medal and Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon. He later was a Deputy Sheriff and Cherokee Nation Marshal.
