Biographical Information[edit]

Joe Benson was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 2nd round of the 2006 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Billy Milos for $575,000, turning down a football scholarship to Purdue University. Benson may very well hold the major league record for fewest career hits among any player with a four-hit game: on September 16, 2011, he went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a triple in a 7-6 Twins loss to the Cleveland Indians. In the remaining 20 games of his major league career, he had 13 hits in 67 at-bats (.194), for a career batting average of .239.
