Biographical Information[edit]
Shortstop Jodaneli Carvajal signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2008. His $350,000 bonus ranked 2nd-highest in franchise history for a Latin American amateur, following fellow '08 signee Exicardo Cayones. The 12/2/2008 edition of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette called him the Pirates' top defensive prospect according to some. Carvajal debuted as a pro with the DSL Pirates on May 30, 2009, going 1 for 4 with a triple. After 7 games as a pro, he was hitting .333/.355/.487 with two triples and 6 runs. By 2014, he was out of pro ball.
