Biographical information[edit]

Jobu Morita played in the US and Japan.

Morita played for Mitsubishi Motors after college. He then was a second baseman who played from 2004 to 2005 for the Elmira Pioneers. In 68 games in 2004, he hit .271 with three home runs and 21 RBI. He hit .263 with one home run and 31 RBI in 247 at-bats in 2005. He then moved to Japan's independent league, the Shikoku-Kyushu Island League, where he played for the Kagawa Olive Guyners. He hit .273 in 2006. In 2007, he batted .321 and led the league with 13 HR and 55 RBI. During 2008, he hit .277 with a league-best 7 home runs and 52 RBI.

He was the number one draft pick by the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles in the 2008 NPB draft developmental phase. He got his first hit in NPB, a double, off Takashi Ogasawara. He was 6 for 20 with four doubles, a walk, three runs and three RBI in 2009. He was 0 for 4 with three whiffs in 2010 and 0 for 3 in 2011 for a career NPB line of .222/.241/.370 in 13 games. Returning to the industrial leagues, he spent a year with Panasonic before retiring completely.
