Joaquín Viego

Joaquín Viego was the most successful manager in Cuban amateur baseball prior to the Cuban Revolution. He led the Hershey Sports Club to titles in 1932, 1934, 1935, 1938, 1939, 1940 and 1948. Among the players he discovered were future major leaguer Roberto Ortiz, Andrés Fleitas as well as Cuban amateur star Pedro "Natilla" Jiménez. Viego also managed the Cuban national team to a second-place finish at the 1941 Amateur World Series.
