Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Joan Adon made his major league debut for the Washington Nationals on the final day of the 2021 season, October 3rd, starting against the Boston Red Sox. It was a meaningful game, as the Red Sox absolutely had to win to confirm their place in the Wild Card Game. But Joan made it tough for them, as he went 5 1/3 innings and gave up just 2 runs on 6 hits while striking out 9. The Nats had a 5-2 lead when he left, but the Sox came back to tie the game and eventually win it, 7-5, on Rafael Devers' two-run homer in the top of the 9th. Adon pitched at four different levels that season, including the majors. He made 17 starts with the Wilmington Blue Rocks in Class A, then had 3 starts in AA and one in AAA before getting his baptism of fire in the Show. His minor league record wasn't great, as he went 7-6, 4.97, but had 122 strikeouts in 105 innings.

In 2022, in spite of his lack of experience at the higher levels of the minor leagues, he made the Nationals' starting rotation out of spring training.
