Biographical Information

Joan Abreu played from 2009-2011 in the Dominican Summer League. His first season was spent with a joint DSL Orioles/Brewers team while he he played for the DSL Brewers squad in 2010-2011. Abreu never received a promotion to the States during his playing career.

Abreu returned to the Milwaukee Brewers organization in 2013 as a coach for the DSL Brewers. He stayed in this position through 2016. In 2017-2018 he was not listed as a coach, but he may have continued working for the Brewers in some capacity. In 2019 Abreu served as an assistant coach and equipment manager at the Brewers Dominican Republic Academy. He was slated to return in this role in 2020 before the minor league season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Starting in 2021 the Brewers fielded two DSL teams and Abreu coached the DSL Brewers 1 team from 2021-2023.
