Biographical Information[edit]
Jiro Ito played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 4 years.
Ito joined the Tokyo Senators in 1936, and he had a 3.60 ERA in the fall season. He went 5-7 with a 2.86 ERA in the 1937 spring season, and he hit .191/.271/.230 at the plate. Ito slumped to 2-3 with a 5.22 ERA in the fall season, and he recorded a .219/.329/.329 batting line. He then had a 5.11 ERA in 7 games in 1938 spring season, and he batted .198/.271/.243. Ito went 3-3 with a 3.67 ERA in the fall season, and his ERA was 4.60 in 5 games in 1939. He announced his retirement after the 1939 season.
Overall, Ito went 10-16 with a 3.93 ERA, struck out 68 and pitched 295 innings, hit .183/.278/.233 with 74 hits in 4 seasons in the NPB.
