Biographical Information[edit]

Jim Ward was one of ten catchers used by the 1876 Philadelphia Athletics. He hit .500 in his one game.

Fergy Malone was the most-utilized catcher on the team.

Ward was born in Boston, MA in the same year, 1855, as John Morrill.
