Biographical Information[edit]
Jim Sasko was an infielder-pitcher for the Sundbyberg Heat. He played for the Swedish national team when they won the Bronze Medal in the 1993 European Championship, hitting .346/.514/.423 with 8 walks, 6 runs and 6 RBI in eight games. He was 6th in the event in OBP (between Javier Diez and Roberto De Franceschi), tied for 6th in walks (with Frank van Droogenbroeck, Johan Hasselström, Marcel Joost and De Franceschi) and led first basemen in fielding (73 PO, 7 A, 0 E).
He was 0 for 6 for Sweden in the 1995 European Championship. He managed them in the 1997 European Championship (8th) and 1999 European Championship (7th) and coached for Sweden in the 2003 European Championship, 2005 European Championship and 2005 Baseball World Cup. He returned to Sundbyberg as manager in 2008 and even pitched briefly (2-1, 7.04), though he was at least in his late 40s by then.
