Biographical Information[edit]
Jim Rantz has been a part of the Minnesota Twins organization for every year of their existence as a player, manager, or in the club's front office.
Playing college ball for the University of Minnesota, Rantz was the winning pitcher in the deciding game of the 1960 College World Series. He signed his first pro contract later that year with the Washington Senators and followed the club when they moved to Minnesota the following season. After four years as a player and one as a manager, he joined the team's front office after the 1965 season. He managed the St. Cloud Rox in 1965 and Wisconsin Rapids Twins for part of 1977. Since 1986, he has been the Twins Director of Minor League Operations (as of 2011).
