Biographical Information[edit]

Jim McHale played 21 games for the 1908 Boston Red Sox. While his offensive output wasn't terrible (it was a dead ball era and the team didn't hit a lot), he was sent to the minors after half the season. The SABR biography says that arm trouble may have been a factor. Also, he was 32 at the time, on a team whose average age was 27.3

Jim played during 1900-10 in the minors, in independent ball and in an outlaw league, according to the SABR biography. After baseball he worked as a clerk in Stockton, CA, later was a fertilizer salesman and storekeeper, and his last job was as a machinist at Lockheed.
