Biographical Information[edit]
Jim McCauley didn't hit much but drew a lot of walks. While his batting average was under .200, his on-base percentage was over .300. McCauley was mostly a catcher.
McCauley and Frank Mountain are the only two major leaguers from Union College (NY), which they attended almost at the same time. Jim was in the minors and majors by 1884 and was in the minors as late as 1897.
Through 2011 there have been four major leaguers named McCauley. All of them broke in between 1884-1895. Pat McCauley was also a catcher.
