Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Jim Finks played in the minor leagues in 1949 and 1950. He hit .253 in 29 games for the Tyler Trojans in 1949 and .216 in 25 games for the Austin Pioneers in 1950. Overall, he hit .236 in 54 games.

Finks later became a well-known figure in American football. He played for the National Football League's Pittsburgh Steelers from 1949 to 1955 and for the Canadian Football League's Calgary Stampeders in 1957. He later served as the general manager of the Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints (spending some time as the Chicago Cubs' vice-president and CEO in-between). He was inducted into the Professional Football Hall of Fame in 1995.
