James Tyler Beane

Pitcher Jim Beane played college ball at St. Joseph's College, where he was a teammate of Gil Hodges, prior to serving in the Navy in World War II. After the war, he played two seasons of minor league ball. Later, he returned to his alma mater as head baseball coach from 1952 to 1954. During that time, the school posted a 42-9 record and were Indiana Collegiate Conference champions in 1954. He later worked many years for General Motors.
