Biographical Information[edit]

Ji-young Lee was a catcher for the South Korean national team in the 2005 Baseball World Cup. The 19-year-old was 0 for 5 with three strikeouts and an error as the backup to Sang-ho Jung. In the Gold Medal game, he caught the final 4 1/3 innings in a 3-0 loss to Cuba; he was retired by Dany Betancourt in his only at-bat.

After college, Lee broke into the Korea Baseball Organization with the Samsung Lions, going 6 for 28 (all singles, no walks) in 2009. He spent 2010 in the military, then joined the Korean entry in the 2010 Intercontinental Cup.
