Biographical Information[edit]
Jesús Delgado was signed by scout Ben Cherington for the Boston Red Sox in 2001. He made his pro debut that summer for the DSL Red Sox. He blew out his elbow, had Tommy John surgery, and missed 2002 and 2003.
Delgado was one of the four prospects sent by the Red Sox to the Florida Marlins in return for Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell before the 2006 season. Delgado accompanied Hanley Ramirez, Anibal Sanchez and Harvey Garcia to Florida and made his major league debut with the Marlins on September 17, 2008. However, he only made one more pitching appearance in the majors that season, and has not been back since.
Delgado became a pitching coach with the DSL Rangers 2 in 2017-2019 and ACL Rangers in 2021-2022. He was then pitching coach for the ACL Royals in 2023-2024.
