Biographical Information[edit]

Former Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White played professional baseball from 1959 to 1964 and in 1966. A Chicago Cubs farmhand for the duration of his career, White hit .291 with 982 hits in 859 games. He was fast, stealing over 129 bases in seven seasons. Perhaps his best season was 1961 with the Wenatchee Chiefs - that year, he hit .320 with 17 triples in 135 games.

Following his career as a player, he became a teacher and administrator in the Chicago school system. He assumed office as a representative in 1975 and was Illinois' Secretary of State from 1999 to 2023.
