Biographical Information[edit]

Jeremy Hermida was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 1st round of the 2002 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Joel Smith and made his pro debut that summer.

Hermida hit a grand slam home run in his first big league at-bat for the Marlins on August 31, 2005 against the St. Louis Cardinals. He is one of just four players in baseball history to hit a grand slam in his first major league plate appearance (Kevin Kouzmanoff, Bill Duggleby, and Daniel Nava are the other three).
