Jeremiah Nelson Tappan
Jeremiah Tappan was the first president of the Brooklyn Excelsiors, serving from the club's first season in 1854 until 1857. He served as the Chamberlain of the city and county of New York in 1875. His parents were originally from Newburyport, MA.
