Biographical Information[edit]

Jeison Pacheco is the nephew of Antonio Pacheco and Juan Pacheco.

He hit .394/.429/.485 when Cuba won the 2002 World Junior Championship, fielding .977 as their starting second baseman. He came up big in the quarterfinals; with the game 6-6 in the 9th and Cuba facing elimination with a loss, he drove the winner off Adam Blackley to keep them going. Entering 2007-2008, he had hit .289/~.347/.367 after five seasons in the Cuban leagues. In 2007-2008, he batted .311/.357/.372. He hit .289/.356/.377 as a regular first baseman for Holguín in 2008-2009. He was at .302/.356/.430 in 2009-2010 and fielded .985 between 1B, 2B and 3B. He was hit by 24 pitches, tying Frederich Cepeda for third in the Cuban Serie Nacional, and was 10th with 289 assists.

In 2010-2011, Jeison produced at a .321/.380/.446 rate with 21 doubles in 89 games. He fielded .993 as a full-time second baseman, with only four errors, to win Gold Glove honors. He was 7th in the league (regardless of position) with 320 assists and 5th in double plays (behind four first basemen).
