Biographical Information

Jeffry Niño has pitched in the minor leagues and has been on the Colombia national baseball team. His brother Bryan Niño also played in the minors.

Niño started his professional career with the Cincinnati Reds (the signing scout was Jose Valdelamar), and he was 0-3 with a 4.65 ERA for the DSL Rojos in 2015. He went 2-4 with a 5.49 ERA in 2016, then he had a 1-4 record with a 5.26 ERA and 3 saves in 2017. Nino's ERA was 5.19 in 16 relief outings for the AZL Reds in 2018, and he improved to a 2.45 ERA in 19 games for the Billings Mustangs in 2019. The Reds released him in June 2020, then he had a 3.47 ERA in 17 games for the Tigres de Cartagena in 2021-2022. Nino also represented Colombia in the 2022 Caribbean Series, and he pitched 3 shutout innings.

The Barranquilla native went to Mexico in 2022, and he had a 3.44 ERA in 18 games for the Guerreros de Oaxaca while recording a 3.93 ERA in 8 appearances with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico. Nino pitched 2 shutout innings for the Gigantes del Cibao in the winter, but he allowed 9 runs in 3 innings for the Caimanes de Barranquilla in his hometown. He then represented Colombia in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, but he didn’t appear in any games. Nino slumped to a 5.94 ERA in 32 games for the Diablos Rojos in 2023, and he pitched 2 games in Oaxaca. He allowed 2 runs in 2/3 of a inning in the winter for the Algodoneros de Guasave, and he only pitched 2 games with the Tigres de Quintana Roo in 2024 before they released him in April.
