Biographical Information

The son of Graig Nettles, Jeff Nettles is also a third baseman and shares a birthday with his father.

The Yankees drafted Jeff in the 47th round of the 1998 June draft. He played in the Yankees farm system from 1998 to 2002, rising as high as AAA but never playing in more than 100 games in a single year.

From 2003 to 2007, he played for the Somerset Patriots of the independent Atlantic League. In his first year with he was voted the Atlantic League Playoff MVP. At the time of his departure from the Patriots, he ranked first in RBI (377), home runs (103), and doubles (127) and second in games played (533), at bats (1,960), and hits (568). He also shares the single season home run record, with outfielder Ryan Radmanovich, clubbing 28 homers during the 2005 season.

During the 2007, he was signed mid-season by the Kansas City Royals and played third base for the AA Wichita Wranglers.

In 2008, he was released by the Royals and signed on with the Baltimore Orioles where he played third base and first base for the AA Bowie Baysox belting 24 home runs and helping the Sox to the Eastern League playoffs.

He returned to the Patriots in 2009, hitting .295 with 15 home runs and 93 RBI in 133 games. In 2010, he hit .299 with 12 home runs and 52 RBI in 82 games and in 2011, he hit .266 with 15 home runs and 72 RBI in 120 games.

Jeff is also the nephew of former big leaguer Jim Nettles.
