Biographical Information

Pitcher Jeff Gerbe was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 16th round of the 2006 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Tom Osowski and made his pro debut that summer with the Oneonta Tigers. He spent the majority of the following year with the West Michigan Whitecaps, going 2-3 with a 2.65 ERA in 21 outings split between the rotation and the bullpen. He did not allow an earned run in 9 straight appearances from April 14th to May 25th and was selected to the Midwest League midseason All-Star team. He also made a pair of starts for the AA Erie SeaWolves that year. He missed the entire 2008 campaign following shoulder surgery but returned in 2009, making 5 starts for Oneonta.
