Biographical Information[edit]

Jeff Cornell pitched 23 games for the San Francisco Giants in 1984.

Cornell was born in Kansas City and attended the Missouri from 1976 to 1978. His time there overlapped with that of Tim Laudner and Ron Mathis. Jeff was drafted in the 8th round of the 1978 amateur draft by the Kansas City Royals. He was in the Royals' organization through 1981, primarily as a reliever. He was with the Jacksonville Suns in the Southern League during part of 1978 and all of 1979 to 1981.

Traded to the Giants in February 1982, he spent part or all of each year from 1982 to 1985 with the Phoenix Giants of the Pacific Coast League, mostly as a reliever. He made his major league debut in June 1984 and appeared in 23 games, recording a 6.10 ERA in 38 1/3 innings. In 1986, he pitched in the Chicago Cubs organization for the Iowa Cubs.
