Biographical Information[edit]

Javier Martinez pitched in the minors leagues and the CPBL.

Martinez began his career with the San Diego Padres, and he pitched 3 1/3 shutout innings for the AZL Padres in 2000. He was 1-4 with a 6.43 ERA for the Idaho Falls Padres in 2001, then he went 6-4 with a 3.38 ERA for the Fort Wayne Wizards in 2002. Martínez also had a 4.50 ERA in 2 games for the Eugene Emeralds in the latter season. He was 6-3 with a 3.23 ERA for the Lake Elsinore Storm, but he missed the entire 2004 season.

Returning in 2005 with the Lake Elsinore, Martínez went 4-2 with a 4.77 ERA in 17 starts, then he left the Padres organization. He pitched 2 games for the Caneros de Los Mochis in 2006, but he allowed 4 runs in 3 2/3 innings. Martinez then went 5-6 with a 5.44 ERA for the Leones de Yucatan, and he had a 8.44 ERA in 6 games in winter with the Yaquis de Obregon. He was 10-4 with a 4.18 ERA in 2008, and he returned to Los Mochis in winter. However, he struggled again as his ERA was 9.58 in 6 games.

Martinez improved to 11-4 with a 2.95 ERA in Yucatán in 2009, and he went 5-4 with a 5.16 ERA for the Mayos de Navojoa in winter. He was 2-1 in Yucatán in 2010, then he moved to the Diablos Rojos del Mexico in April and he went 9-2 with a 3.10 ERA. Martinez went to Taiwan in August, and he was 1-1 with a 3.79 ERA for the Sinon Bulls in 2010 CPBL. He only pitched one game for the Diablos in 2011, and he was 3-2 with a 5.36 ERA in Navojoa.

In 2012, Martinez stayed in Mexico City, but he struggled as he was 2-6 with a 9.42 ERA. He also started 14 games for the Mayos, and he went 3-4 with a 4.15 ERA. Martinez had a 7.63 ERA in 9 games for the Diablos in 2013, and he also went 0-5 with a 9.55 ERA for the Acereros de Monclova. Martinez went 0-4 with a 6.40 ERA in Yucatan in 2014, then his professional career ended.
