Biographical Information[edit]

James Labartino has played in the top Czech Republic league.

Labartino hit .274 as a college freshman. He improved to .339/.424/.475 as a sophomore, setting school single-season records for doubles (14) and runs (45). In 2010, James hit .346/.436/.425 and fielded .990 with 10 assists in center field. He stole 21 bases, the third-best total in school annals, and made All-Skyline Conference. As a senior, he batted .354/.394/.507 with 27 steals in 30 tries and went 1-0 with two saves and a 2.16 ERA on the hill. He again was All-Conference.

He signed with Technika Brno in the Czech Extraliga for 2012. As of mid-June, he was hitting .340/.500/.404 with 19 runs and 10 steals (in 13 tries) in 18 games. As a pitcher, he was 5-1 with a save, 5.28 ERA and 31 walks in 46 innings. In the 2012 European Cup, he struggled, going 2 for 17 with 2 steals and 3 errors. In his only start, he was rocked for 3 hits, 5 walks and 9 runs (all earned) in the first inning of a 16-3 loss against Caffe Danesi Nettuno of Italy.
